In this week’s spotlight:
From TrafficGenerationCafe.com
Tweet Adder Review – the fun thing about this post wasn’t the fact that I want to sell you the software (don’t get me wrong, I DO, but that’s not the point).
What I found in the past was the fact that reviews were hard to market, promote, build links to, etc.
You know, all the good stuff that gets your reviews ranked on Google, brings buyers in, and produces sales.
This time I got creative using the content leverage system I talked about in this post.
So far, I…
- shared the post and all of its “by-product” content throughout social media and social networking sites;
- posted a YouTube video,
- a Slideshare presentation;
- which I also uploaded to Scribd.com,
- and wrote a guest post for BasicBlogTips.com.
The guest post wasn’t about Tweet Adder specifically, of course – you never want to promote an affiliate product in a guest post.
Rather, it was about the video I did about Tweet Adder. You’ll just have to see it for yourself to know what I am talking about.
Results: my review is #7 top landing page for TGC in the past three days.

That’s not bad at all considering the nature of the post.

Slideshare traffic experiment
If you are one of my email subscribers and actually open my emails (don’t blush, start actually reading them), you know all about this experiment.
If you are one of my awesome email subscribers who actually helped me with this experiment, THANK YOU.
If you are NOT one of my awesome email subscribers, B 1.
So the point of the experiment was to prove (or disprove) that Slideshare could be a tremendous traffic source – something that I’ve heard many marketers, like Joe Pulizzi, mention lately.

Mauro D’Andrea, who wrote How to Milk SlideShare Homepage for All the Traffic You Can Handle guest post at TGC, was kind enough to come up with a Slideshare presentation I could put my name to.
Following his instructions, I:
- uploaded the presentation at about 1 pm PST on Thursday;
- sent an email out to my favorite TGC readers, AKA my email subscribers;
- asked them to watch the presentation to share the heck out of it;
- frantically checked the stats every 10 minutes to see how the presentation was doing.
Oh, yes, the whole point of the exercise is to see if we can hit Slideshare’s Top Presentation of the Day, and drive traffic back to Traffic Generation Café.
Progress: the presentation hit the “Hot” spot on all three social media networks on Slideshare’s home page:

Unfortunately, it never hit the coveted “Top Presentation of the Day”.
Fortunately, I am now hooked.
I saw the potential of Slideshare for myself, and I want more.
The following Google Analytics stats are for the past 2 days (I just started using Slideshare on Thursday):

Traffic case study from Ti Roberts
Now I need to stop talking about myself and mention an incredible Traffic Study by Ti Roberts that was published at TGC on Thursday.
Ti’s blog is still very new; she just started working on it in September.
Yet, in such a short period of time, she manage to drive close to 30K visitors to it – all without any SEO.
As a matter of fact, I am pretty sure Ti is allergic to SEO…

SEO
What’s new on the SEO front? Plenty.
Google PageRank update – February 4, 2013 (the first one this year).
Yahoo! and Google tie the knot: Yahoo! will now start serving Google contextual ads (not exactly SEO, but interesting).
If you noticed a significant decrease in link count in your Google Webmaster Tools, don’t panic; it’s just a glitch.
This looks like an issue with how the data is displayed in Webmaster Tools, it shouldn’t affect your site’s crawling, indexing or ranking. I don’t have any specifics at the moment, but the team is looking into the details to see what we can do here. Thanks for your patience & sorry for the confusion! ~ Source
If you are an SEO newbie or simply don’t have the time to learn in, but would still like to tap into SEO traffic if possible, here’s a great post to read:

Yes, I am a big fan of Tom Ewer, ManageWP, and checklists.
Here’s another great one for you:
Social Media
The biggest news here is the fact that Google+ just surpassed Twitter and became the second largest social media network.

Whether those G+ users are active or not is a different story.
Everyone seems to have an opinion on this matter; here’s mine (I told you I was hooked on Slideshare):

The presentation was inspired by Ann Smarty’s Google Plus Fun and Marty Hoffman’s (aka Mr. Ana Hoffman) coined phrase “to be kaepernicked by something“.

Thank You
To all of you who took your time to show me your support and shared my Slideshare presentation, my wholehearted THANK YOU.
Unfortunately, Twitter is the only media platform that makes it easy to embed tweets, so your name might not be here if you commented, shared on Facebook, embedded, etc.
Either way, even if it seems like your effort went unnoticed, your impact was huge.
